Medicine at Transilvania University of Brașov (UNITBV), is a 6-year, 360-ECTS integrated degree delivered in Romanian, totaling 5,500 hours of theory, pre-clinical training, and hospital-based clinical rotations.
The curriculum builds a strong biomedical foundation (anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology) before moving into progressively intensive clinical clerkships in Brașov’s teaching hospitals across internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, OB-GYN, psychiatry, and emergency care. Aligned with the Bologna Process/ECTS, the program supports academic mobility and degree recognition across Europe.
Training emphasizes hands-on skills, bedside teaching, simulation where applicable, and the development of clinical reasoning, communication, and professional ethics. In the final stage, students complete advanced clinical practice, electives, and graduation requirements in line with Romanian national standards, preparing them for residency entry and further specialization.
For domestic/EU tracks, admission is competitive and uses a grid-type written exam in Biology and Organic Chemistry. Non-EU applicants follow a file-evaluation route (no entrance test), with selection based on academic documents and language compliance.
Because instruction is in Romanian, international candidates who do not already meet the Romanian-language requirement typically complete a one-year Romanian preparatory course before starting Year 1.
Medicine at Transilvania University of Brașov, is structured to guide students from fundamental biomedical sciences to advanced clinical competence.
Each stage of the six-year curriculum combines theory, laboratory work, and hospital-based training, ensuring a gradual and comprehensive development of medical knowledge, clinical skills, and professional ethics in line with EU educational standards:
