Overview
The Preparatory year at Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (TUCN) is a one-year, full-time university program designed for international students who wish to continue their studies in Romanian-taught bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral programs.
Accredited by the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS), the program carries 60 ECTS credits and is organized over two semesters. It develops language competence (B1–B2 level), academic communication skills, and introductory disciplinary terminology in fields such as engineering, applied sciences, biology, and biomedical sciences.

Academically, the Preparatory Year is a strategic gateway into Romania’s technical and STEM education system. Courses are coordinated by the Department of Modern Languages and Communication and taught by specialists in Romanian as a foreign language.
